A NEW Co-op Food store is set to open its doors in Stanton Hill, taking over the site of the village’s former Netto shop.
The existing Co-operative Food store on the High Street will close on Wednesday, with the new larger store opening up down the road the following day.
The Co-operative is investing over £500,000 to transform the Netto into a Co-operative food store, a move which is part of the company’s ‘ongoing commitment to serving local communities.’
All 20 staff employed at the original Co-op are either moving across to the new store or re-locating to other Co-operative food stores nearby, while the 13 people who worked at Netto will also move to the new Co-op Food store.
Phil Burton, operations manager for the store, said: “Our new store will provide an ideal location for people to be able to pick up groceries, fresh ingredients and everyday essentials quickly and easily as they go about their day, and we are all looking forward to welcoming our new customers.”
