New online roadworks checker for Derbyshire

It’s even easier to find out where roadworks are taking place now Derbyshire County Council has launched an online checker.

The digital map and search facility at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/roadworks gives details about planned roadworks across the county and beyond.

It includes work being carried out by the county council as well as utility companies for gas, water and electricity.

Coun Simon Spencer, Derbyshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member for highways and transport, said: We know how important high quality roads are to residents.

“Obviously we always try to keep disruption to a minimum while we’re improving Derbyshire’s roads but we know roadworks can be disruptive.

“This new system is really useful for people living, working and visiting Derbyshire. By providing a quick and easy way of checking for roadworks on their routes, we can help them prepare for the journey ahead and hopefully help reduce disruption even further.”

The new online search facility lets users:

*Search for a street, village, town, parish, city, district or electoral division to find roadworks planned for that area *Sign up for daily, weekly or monthly email alerts about planned roadworks by area *Find out when roadworks are due to start and finish and whether temporary traffic lights or stop-go boards will be in place *Check whether potential traffic disruption caused by roadworks in a particular area is likely to be low, medium or high based on the type of work being carried out and normal traffic flows along the road.

*Search for roadworks outside Derbyshire with 80% of England and Wales covered by the system *See which organisation is responsible for a particular set of roadworks complete with a contact phone number The system covers all roads in Derbyshire except the M1 and A38 which are the responsibility of the Highways Agency.

All types of roadworks will be included except emergency works.
