An application has been submitted to build 46 news homes on the edge of Mansfield, with developers saying it is at risk of becoming a ‘nuisance’ site.
Regal Property Ltd has approached Mansfield District Council about building the new homes off Oakleaf Close, next to Sherwood Oaks Business Park.
The plot backs on to the Skoda dealership, and is opposite St Andrew’s Healthcare facility.
A spokesman for the applicant said: “The plot is currently landlocked within the business park being adjacent to both employment and residential land and has the potential to be a problematic nuisance in the future if left empty.”
The plan is for four two-bedroom houses, eight three-bed home, three four-or-more-bedroom homes, and 22 two-bed flats.
Of the homes, 22 would be classed as ‘affordable homes’.
Regal Property Ltd admit that the plans conflicts with the Mansfield District Local Plan, but said: “We believe there is strong evidence that a residential scheme in the area does accord with policy which is applicable on the directly adjacent sites.
“We believe our site can help meet these targets by providing 12 per cent of one year’s housing requirement in a suitable brown field location.”
