Members of the local community are invited to attend a health awareness day at the new Co-operative Pharmacy in The Ropewalk, Southwell on Wednesday.
Situated in The Co-operative food store, customers will be able to meet staff, take advantage of a free blood pressure check and find out more about the pharmacy’s stop smoking service on the day.
Offering greater access to Pharmacy services for customers, the branch will be open from 7am-11pm Monday-Friday; 8am-10pm on Saturdays and from 10am-4pm on Sundays.
Pharmacy manager, Nichola Stafford, said: “The extended pharmacy opening hours will give customers more flexibility when it comes to accessing health advice, in addition to when and how they receive their medication. Having a presence in the food store also offers customers greater convenience as they can pick up their prescription at the same time as they do their grocery shopping.
“We would encourage people to come and have their blood pressure checked as keeping an eye on your blood pressure is important, especially as you get older. Many people aren’t aware that they have high blood pressure but if left untreated it can lead to heart problems or strokes. By visiting us people can find out more about how pharmacists can help to prevent and manage longer-term health conditions.”
The pharmacy is also equipped with a consultation room. This gives customers greater privacy and allows staff to offer extra services such as help with medicine checks – whereby they can discuss their medication with the pharmacist.
Customers can get healthy living advice from the branch and a free prescription delivery and collection service is also available.
Complementary Co-operative Pharmacy advice packs containing goodies and money-off vouchers will also be available on the day and customers can learn more about the Co-operative campaigns from a membership representative. The first 25 visitors to the pharmacy will get an exclusive goodie bag including a mini first aid kit worth £6.99.
As with all Co-operative Group businesses, customers can become members for just £1, and are then entitled to a share of profits based on their spending. Members get a point for every pound they spend in branches of The Co-operative Pharmacy, excluding prescriptions and baby milk.
