Mansfield District Council has appointed Coun Andy Wetton as the new chair of the council for the forthcoming year.
He was appointed during the recent annual meeting at the Civic Centre, taking over from Coun Julia Yemm.
Coun Wetton had served as vice-chairman over the past 12 months.
Taking his place as vice chairman is Coun Katie Atherton.
Their roles are to uphold and promote the principles of the council’s constitution and preside over meetings.
Speaking in front of the full council, Coun Wetton said it was a ‘great privilege’ and praised former chairman Coun Yemm, saying: “She has been one of the best chairmen in recent years and if I can do half as a good a job, I would have done a good job.”
