Supermarket giant Aldi has unveiled plans to build a new food store in Mansfield that will create around 40 jobs at the site of Peggs DIY on Leeming Lane South.

People can attend a public exhibition to find out more about the proposed new store and give their feedback on Thursday 14th August, from 3pm and 7pm, at Turner Hall, St Edmunds Church, Welbeck Road, Mansfield Woodhouse.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “A new Aldi food store would represent a multi-million-pound investment as well as delivering wider benefits for Mansfield including, increased shopping choice in the north of the town, retention of local spending and the creation of approximately 40 full and part-time jobs for the community.

“Aldi is committed to investing in Mansfield and our existing store on Nottingham Road has been particularly popular, and we are confident there is demand for a further store in the area and believe the site at Leeming Lane South is ideally located to increase our offering in Mansfield.

“Before we submit a planning application to Mansfield Borough Council, we are keen to understand the views of the local community.

“We look forward to welcoming residents to our public exhibition on 14 August, but if residents have any questions in the meantime, they can call the project’s Freephone information line on 0800 298 7040.”
