The mother of a 14-year-old Mansfield boy who went missing at the weekend has made an emotional plea for him to come home.

Ciaran Sweeny was last seen near The Heathers, at the Oak Tree estate in Mansfield, at around 6pm yesterday (Sunday) but he did not return home.

Over the weekend, people posted messages on social media networks calling for Ciaran to come home using the hashtag #findciaransweeney.

Speaking this morning, his mum Rheane O’Neill said: “Please come home. We are waiting for you and we want you to be safe. Everyone misses you.

“He did not even have any shoes on at the time. There was a possible sighting of him yesterday but they weren’t sure.”

Ciaran is white and about 5ft 2ins tall. He has brown short hair and is of a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a black coat with a hooded top, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Anyone who has seen Ciaran or knows of his whereabouts is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
