Motorcyclist dies after Kirkby collision

A 34-year-old motorcyclist has died following a collision in Kirkby on Sunday morning.

His Yamaha 125 collided with a blue Fiat Doblo taxi in Derby Road, near the Hollinwell Golf Course, at around 5.35am.

The motorcyclist was taken to King’s Mill Hospital and then to the Queens Medical Centre where he died yesterday afternoon.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed until Wednesday.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Fiat in the minutes before it took place.
