A Meden Vale man has opted to go have his case heard at crown court after he was charged with producing cannabis.

Shaun Nigel Everest (40) of Ossington Close, gave the title ‘Reverend’ when he was asked to confirm his name by Mansfield magistrates.

He was charged with producing the drug at his home in January.

Police raided the property and found three growing areas amounting to 15 cannabis plants.

He was not represented by a solicitor but was given legal advice before he came before the magistrates.

He did not enter plea and was given the chance to have the case heard at the magistrates, or at crown court, for which he elected the latter.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 1st August.
