A Mansfield Woodhouse school has received a major accolade for its approach to the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors.
Leas Park Junior School is one of just three schools in the county to be awarded a Safety Smart award by Nottinghamshire County Council.
The award recognises excellence in Nottinghamshire schools, based on the findings of regular inspections of safety standards and management.
Coun Joyce Bosnjak, Deputy Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council presented the award to Tim Edwards, Site Manager at the school. Tim was picked to receive the award on behalf of the school because of the role he has played in improving and maintaining safety standards.
Coun Bosnjak said: “Having the reassurance that our children are in a safe environment when they are at school is really important to all parents.
“In my experience, safety standards in schools across Nottinghamshire are generally very high but it is still important we recognise the very best practice.
“Leas Park is a fantastic example of a school which has the health, safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors engrained in its culture and I am extremely proud of its achievements.”
