A group of 16 friends have completed a sponsored walk from Rainworth to Mansfield in aid of Chad’s massive £300,000 campaign to raise funds for an air ambulance charity.
The charity walkers set off from Rainworth Miner’s Welfare Club on 16th August to show their support for Chad’s life-changing appeal.
They raised £66.16 from the walk but are holding a fundraiser night on 20th September to raise even more.
Mark Allen, who organised the charity events with his wife Julie and Steve Toplin, said the walk was in aid of one of the best voluntary organisations around.
He said: “We did a sponsored walk last year for King’s Mill Hospital to help them buy lifesaving equipment and decided we wanted to try and raise money for lifesaving organisations again.
“We thought let’s do something for the air ambulance as they need the money desperately.
“We put our heads together and came up with this.”
The fundraiser night will take place at Rainworth Miners’ Welfare Club in September. There will be a tombola, disco and cake stall with doors opening at 7pm. Everyone is welcome. Representatives from the air ambulance met Mark and the walkers on their walk to thank them for their help.
The air ambulance carries out around 300 rescue operations in Nottinghamshire each year and runs solely on donations.
The helicopter can reach any destination in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in just 19 minutes.
So far the total raised for the air ambulance stands at £300.
Donations can be made payable by cheque to LNAACT Chad campaign and sent to Unit 2 Chase Park, Daleside Road, Nottingham, NG2 4GT.
Card payments can be made by calling 01522548469 using Chad campaign as your reference.
