MANSFIELD’S first Youth Conversation takes place on Thursday and will see more than 100 students come together to discuss local issues and meet with service providers to give the organisations a better understanding of the needs of young people.
Two students from each year group at all of the district’s seven secondary schools and West Notts College have been invited to attend the event on Thursday at Mansfield Library on Westgate, which has been organised by Mansfield District Council along with Mansfield Learning Partnership.
During the morning’s session a range of service providers will set up a market place where students will be able to visit the stalls and tell the service providers what they want and need from each service.
Services attending include: Nottinghamshire Police, Stagecoach transport, Mansfield District Leisure Trust, Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Group, Mansfield District Council’s Leisure, Parks and Town Centre departments, Mansfield Museum and Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Services.
Then in the afternoon a question time event will be held in the library theatre with panellists including:
Coun Kate Allsop, Mansfield District Council
Inspector Paul Winter, Nottinghamshire Police
Irvin Robinson, Mansfield 2020
Amanda Sullivan, Mansfield and Ashfield Clinical Commissioning Group
Tracy Powell, Mansfield and Ashfield Chad
Chairman - Tony Delahunty, Mansfield 103.2
Students will be able to quiz the panellists on topical issues relating to young people.
