A MANSFIELD school is calling on folk to back its bid to win new playground equipment worth thousands of pounds as part of a competition.
Crescent Primary School has entered the Wicksteed Playscapes competition on social networking site Facebook to win up to £25,000 worth of equipment and create an all-new playground.
To be in with a chance of winning the contest, people have to vote for the school of their choice via the Wicksteed app on Facebook - with the deadline for votes being midnight tonight (Friday).
The Booth Crescent school was hit by fire recently and headteacher Vic Wilkinson said developing the playground would provide a boost for pupils.
He said: “We are very excited about the possibility of developing our outdoor environment for the children at Crescent Primary School.
“We’ve recently suffered the turmoil of a fire and our children have been wonderful.
“Four classes have been working hard in temporary accommodation and have proved themselves to be adaptable, flexible and, most importantly, supportive of the staff and each other.
“The development of our outdoor area would be a perfect thanks to all of our pupils and recognition of their maturity and support.”
