Mansfield mum-of-two Kelly Hallam has revitalised her career in the property industry by completing a management apprenticeship with leading national training provider Positive Outcomes.

Kelly (29) now works for Lasting Impressions Property in Southwell Road West in Mansfield as an estates manager, having completed an NVQ level 3 in business administration with Positive Outcomes last year.

She is has now undertaken further training with the Positive Outcomes, this time an advanced apprenticeship in management, which she is due to complete in April.

Kelly said the support she has received while doing her apprenticeships has meant she can further her career prospects without taking a chunk of time out of work to retrain.

She said: “I think apprenticeships are absolutely brilliant. Positive Outcomes have helped me to boost my career prospects while still working, because the training is always carried out ‘on-the-job’ which means I’ve been able to juggle learning, earning and being a mum.

“Following a five year career break to bring up my children, Positive Outcomes offered me the solution I was looking for. I choose an apprenticeship with them in order to advance my skills in my current job role as estates manager. I had never worked in a management role before and knew the management NVQ would help me in the areas I needed to improve.”

She added that the training she has received from Positive Outcomes has been outstanding.

She said: “The support from Positive Outcomes has been impeccable. Each member of staff I’ve met has been extremely professional and friendly and has helped me in every way they can.

“When I signed up for the management NVQ I requested my tutor Isabel Wylie back, because she was a huge support through my functional skills exams when I struggled with my maths exam. I could not have passed the test first time if it wasn’t for her support and encouragement.”

Isabel Wylie, Kelly’s training advisor at Positive Outcomes, added: ““Kelly started as an administrator and is now in a managerial role where she looks after the new administrator.

“When the MD is on holiday, Kelly takes over her role and manages all the staff. She’s achieved so much and I am really proud of her.”

But Kelly doesn’t plan to stop training and improving her skills anytime soon.

She added: “I have already spoken with Isabel regarding signing up for a level 5 Management NVQ once I have completed my current qualification. This will enable me to progress even further in my career.”
