Mansfield MP receives knighthood

MANSFIELD MP Alan Meale has received a knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The 61-year-old, who has been Labour MP for Mansfield since 1987, has been honoured for his services to politics and the public.

Former Mansfield district councillor Heather Henshaw has been made an MBE for her work with the NSPCC,

Jean Hardy, chairman of governors at West Notts College, was also named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2011 for her services to education.

Mrs Hardy, who joined the board of governors in 1992 and served as chair for the last 15 years, was awarded the MBE in today’s (Saturday) announcement.

“I am absolutely delighted and honoured to receive an MBE for my services to education,” she said.

“I have enjoyed immensely my 20 years with West Notts College and as chair I’ve seen it go from strength to strength.

“It’s a great honour to receive such recognition for my contribution to the success of the college.”
