A Mansfield man who drunkenly swore at police officers and told them they were a ‘joke’ has been fined.
Mark Lapko, of Spindle Court, was walking along Leeming Street shortly before 4am on 12th February and threw a bottle into the street.
Prosecuting at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, Ruth Snodin said: “The male was on Leeming Street when he threw a bottle outside of the Maid Marian’s fish bar.
“Officers heard him say, “Here are the police, hear to arrest me. You are a joke.”
She said Lapko was visibly drunk and was shouting and swearing, and then said he had been assaulted.
She added: “Witnesses said no assault had taken place.”
The 32-year-old was arrested, and pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
During mitigation it was heard how Lapko had recently lost his grandfather and was not coping well.
Magistrates fined him £70, and was ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
