A Mansfield man caught with more than 2,000 indecent photos of children has been ordered by a judge to attend a sex offender programme.

Richard Brooke (50), of Birkland Street, admitted five counts of downloading images and video clips from the internet between August 2010 and October 2011.

Police with a warrant seized his computer at his home, Nottingham Crown Court was told.

A total of 1,440 images were at the lowest level one, 930 were at levels two to four, and 19 were at the most serious level five.

Judge John Milmo sentenced him to a two-year community order with probation supervision and a requirement to attend the sex offender programme.

He was disqualified from working with children and will be on the sex offender register for five years.
