A Mansfield couple have beaten thousands of entrants to have their creation reach the finals of the annual Shed of The Year competition.
TV fame beckons for Rebecca and John Bunting who have spent 10 years building an authentic American log cabin in their back garden.
Rebecca, 36 said:”It was a bit of a shock when we reached the finals. When I decided to enter the competition we never thought we could beat all those weird and wonderful entries from around the country.
But we have spent a lot of time on our shed over the years. We see it every day but I guess we didn’t really appreciate it.”
Inspired by American log cabins, the cosy Teasel’s Wood Cabin is a mixture of different American style cabins including Adirondack, Western, New England and Mid-West.
The exterior walls are made with larch cladding to achieve an authentic rustic look with cedar shakes on the roof. Used as an extra living space, the interior décor and furniture has been collected from America.
There have been a record breaking 2,520 entries into the annual Shed of the Year competition sponsored by Cuprinol, which showcases extraordinary creations vying to be crowned Shed of the Year 2015.
The finalists will feature on the hit TV series ‘Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year’, on Channel 4 this summer. To vote for your favourites, visit www.Readersheds.co.uk.
