A Mansfield charity boss enjoyed a special trip to London – for a reception at 10 Downing Street.
Carol Burkitt, chief executive of A Place to Call Our Own, which supports children with special educational needs and disabilities and their families, was invited to the launch of the Government’s Local Charities Day on Wednesday, ahead of the event today.
She said: “This very special invite and the reception will be a lifelong memory, meeting so many people who are genuinely kind, thoughtful, generous and giving.
“This year APTCOO has celebrated 25 years supporting local families with local services, what a great way to end 2016 and start 2017!”
The message on Local Charities Day – Friday, December 16 – is for everybody to shout from the rooftops about small, local charities: their energy, commitment, expertise and the benefits they bring to their communities.
