A charity that helps victims of domestic abuse is celebrating after receiving a £120,000 grant to spend on a young person’s IDVA (independent domestic violence advisor) for the next three years.
The money is courtesy of Comic Relief, but the Mansfield charity, NIDAS, had to go through a rigorous selection process.
Lisa Haydon, director of services at NIDAS said: “We were hopeful of getting this money, the process was lengthy but we know our stuff.
“We have a really strong track record of bringing funding to NIDAS.”
There are hopes that the IDVA will be in place before Christmas to work with young people at risk of becoming domestic violence victims.
