Mansfield and Ashfield residents are being invited to take part in Macmillan’s Big Walk on Saturday 8th September and help people living with cancer.

Set in the tranquil surroundings of Clumber Park, the event is the biggest fundraising walk for Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK this year. It is hoped more than 2,000 people will take part.

The Big Walk offers a choice of two routes, 10 miles and two miles, which both start at 10am. This is the flagship event for Miles for Macmillan – a programme of 55 walks nationwide organised with support from our partner Boots UK.

Alex Talcer, National Event Programme Manager for Macmillan, said: “Clumber Park is a stunning setting for Macmillan’s Big Walk, full of woodland and wildlife. The two different routes round the park will provide something for everyone. We’re hoping to raise £100,000 – money which will help the Macmillan team provide medical, financial, practical and emotional support to people living with cancer.

“Come and join a movement within your local community that really makes a difference – you will be standing shoulder to shoulder with others who feel the same.”

The 10 mile route is a woodland and forest trail while the two mile walk is a combination of woodland trail and tarmac surfaces, suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and mobility scooters. All ages are welcome for both routes but no dogs are allowed.
