MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN ALFRETON BLAZE

NDET 26-5-12 MC 2 Fire at Alfreton on Meadow Lane Industrial Estate

A MAN has been seriously injured in a major factory fire in Alfreton.

Crews were called at around noon today (Saturday 26th May) after the blaze broke out at LW Smart Repairs, on Lydford Road.

Neighbours reported their windows shaking as cylinders and tyres exploded at the car repair site.

Station manager Pete Maltby said: “One male casualty has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”

He added: “There is quite extensive damage to the two workshops, spray booths and to two offices.”

Crews were still tackling the blaze at around 4pm.

An investigation has been launched in to the cause of the fire.
