Man sent threatening texts to Bulwell mum

A Bulwell mum was sent threatening text-messages by her former boyfriend, Nottingham Magistrates’ Court was told.

The messages, relayed to Sarah Jackson, of St Albans Road, breached a non-molestation order that had been imposed on him by the courts in June.

So when she reported them to the police, the ex-partner -- Luke Pepper (26) -- was arrested and charged.

Pepper, of Walbrook Close, off Bells Lane, Cinderhill, pleaded guilty to two charges of sending the messages without reasonable excuse on Saturday 3rd August and Wednesday 7th August.

David Miles (prosecuting) said Pepper and Miss Jackson had been in a relationship for six years. But this had ended in October 2012.

The order, imposed by the family court, prohibited Pepper from communicating with Miss Jackson, except through a solicitor.

But in one message, he wrote: “It is in your best interests that you answer me. Remember I know where you all live. I will get you all. You lot have had it.”

A second text-message threatened to smash in Miss Jackson’s car if she did not answer, said Mr Miles.

Maria Bines (defending) said Pepper regretted the offences. But he was angry at the time at being unable to have contact with his son.

“He accepts the messages were unpleasant, but there was no suggestion that he would carry out his threats,” said Mrs Bines.

After reading a probation report on Pepper, the magistrates imposed a community order on him.

During this time, he must be supervised by the probation service and carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

A restraining order, to take effect indefinitely, was also imposed, barring Pepper from contacting Miss Jackson or going to her address.

Pepper was told to pay court costs of £85, plus a victim surcharge of £60.
