A Mansfield man was given a community order after being caught driving while more than twice over the legal alcohol limit.
Mansfield Magistrate’s Court heard how Lee Dickson (42), of Braemer Road, failed a breath test after drinking at a local pub.
Yvonne Wragg, defending, said Dickson walked home, leaving his car at the pub carpark.
She added: “After a few hours he decided to go and get some fish and chips for some tea. He thought he was not drunk so got into his car at the carpark and proceeded to drive home.”
Dickson admitted the charge and was given a community order for 12 weeks with a 7am-7pm curfew. He was also banned from driving for three years.
