Wheelchair users can book a place for Mansfield’s Olympic homecoming
WHEELCHAIR users wanting to see Rebecca Adlington and Mansfield’s other Olympic and Paralympic athletes at their homecoming event on 11th September are being urged to book a place on the viewing platform.
The event will be held in Mansfield’s Market Place from around 6pm, where the athletes - including Paralympians Charlotte Henshaw, Sam Hynd and Oliver Hynd - will take to the stage, while a big screen shows each of the athletes competing.
A raised platform area for wheelchair users will be available in the Market Place but places for wheelchair users must be booked in advance and are available on a first come, first served basis by contacting 01623 463 376.
There will be Olympic-themed activities in the town centre to keep the crowds entertained and 2,000 flags will be given out.
Local sports teams and clubs will be invited to attend a sports village on Westgate from 4pm to 5.30pm, where people who have been motivated to get in to sport can find out how they can get involved.
