What’s in the Chad this week?

THE latest edition of the Chad hits the shelves on Wednesday morning and has even more local news, entertainment and sport, as well as some fantastic deals for readers.

This week’s top story in the Mansfield edition is about a father who has hit out after his two-year-old son was allowed to walk past a watching security guard at a Jobcentre and out towards a busy road.

Both Mansfield and Ashfield editions also feature the latest on a murder case at Nottingham Crown Court, as a man accused of killing housing tenant John-Paul Johnson, from Stanton Hill, in a Mansfield halfway home continues.

Other top stories in Mansfield include the latest on our petition to improve safety on the A60 near Warsop, news of a colliery band making an urgent appeal for funding and a round-up of GCSE results for thousands of students.

In Ashfield, there is the latest on Sutton Baths and a series of events being planned in the district to mark the start of the Paralympic games.

There is another chance to vote from the shortlisted candidates in this year’s Miss Mansfield competition and enter our Perfect Pets competition.

Our freshly designed paper includes regular features looking back on what was making the news 10, 25 and 50 years ago, a round-up of the late chemists available in the area and a tip of the day.

Also, look out for our report on cases completed at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court, TV columnist Tony Spittles and a gardening column.

Readers can also win a meal for four and a hotel stay for four in this week’s Chad.
