The group is disposing of 33 pubs along with others they put on the market last year, and has appointed CBRE and Savills as agents to sell the properties.

JD Wetherspoon will dispose of a further 33 pubs, with a large portion of the sales taking place in London and the South of England.

Sites are located in strong town and city centre locations and the pub in Mansfield is one of three pubs Wetherspoon's ran in Mansfield, until last month when the Court House in the Market Square was bought by Hawthorne Leisure. Now only the Widow Frost in Leeming Street will remain if a buyer is found.

The Stag & Pheasant on Clumber Street opened in 2010 and one online reviewer described it as "The best Wetherspoons bar none."

A spokesman said on the behalf of the joint agents: "The portfolio represents an excellent opportunity to acquire high-volume businesses with strong food sales in established locations, which are fitted to an extremely high standard.

"We therefore anticipate a broad range of interest from the pub, bar and restaurant groups."

Duty manager at the pub, Chris Levick said: "We don't know if there's any interest yet - a brochure has been produced by the company. We're not closing anytime soon but the pub is on the market and they're looking for a similar sort of company to try and keep running. That's the intention, yes.

"We're all in limbo at the moment."

The Court House was sold last month and bought by Hawthorne leisure, so it'll just be the Widow Frost."

Customer Lynne Tasker gave the pub five stars on Trip Advisor, and said the Stag was a 'regular haunt' of hers with a 'brilliant atmosphere - I go to drink and dance', she said, but she couldn't speak for the food.

Wetherspoons owns almost 1,000 pubs in the UK.
