Warsop school’s double delight in GCSE passes

A SCHOOL has almost doubled its GCSE success rate following two years of dramatic improvements.

Meden School in Warsop secured a 67.5 per cent pass rate of students achieving five or more A* to C grades

including English and maths.

The achievement is a far cry from 2010 when they registered a 36 per cent pass rate. The latest results shows a continual increased performance after enjoying a 54 per cent pass rate last year.

Head teacher David Hooker said: “I am immensely proud of our students. They worked incredibly hard to secure these outstanding results and I would like to congratulate them on behalf of myself, governors and staff.”

He says the improvements are due to a radical overall of the school in a short space of time.

Meden is now a member of the Torch Academy Gateway group and will give the school a far greater say in its future direction and spending priorities.

A £1.4 million improvement programme has already begun and it is hoped will lead to further investment.
