Volunteer at Bolsover Castle

Have your say

Staff at Bolsover Castle are on the look out for local residents with a passion for history to volunteer to help tell the tale of the town’s iconic landmark as part of a new project.

Once used as a retreat by William Cavendish, Duke of Newcastle, a flamboyant courtier to Charles I, the castle will soon be alive four centuries on, as part of a £1m project, organisers said.

From Spring 2014, visitors can rediscover what Bolsover meant to Cavendish and his contemporaries through new furnishings and interpretation, which give a flavour of ‘Cavalier’ decadence.
