VIDEO: Mansfield’s new bus station opened by Transport Minister Patrick McLoughlin
MANSFIELD’S new £9m bus station has been opened by Patrick McLoughlin, Secretary of State for Transport.
Mansfield MP Alan Meale, Sherwood MP Mark Spencer, Nottinghamshire County Council leader Coun Kay Cutts, chairman Coun Carol Pepper and Mansfield mayor Tony Egginton were also in attendance at the event on Monday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the entrance to the new bridge linking it with the train station and a commemorative plaque was unveiled in the main concourse area.
Pupils from the Queen Elizabeth Academy were also there after contributing towards a time capsule which has been buried beneath the station, showing future residents of Mansfield what life was like in the early 21st century.
A Family Fun Day will take place at the bus station on Easter Saturday, 30th March, giving local people their first opportunity to take a look at the new facility before it opens for business the following day.
