Throughout the year the Mansfield Learning Partnership programme has enjoyed a number of success stories which has helped students across the town flourish.

The programme is responsible for a number of schemes aimed at developing the skills of students to give them the experiences and skills needed to thrive in the adult world.

Successful activities include masterclasses hosted by industry leaders from across Mansfield, attending the popular Mansfield 2020 breakfast meetings, the WrittenByMe short story competition and the Junior Enterprise competition.

The Junior Enterprise event saw students from Garibaldi College, Manor Academy and the Brunts Academy take over market stalls to sell to the public and learn how to start their own business.

Neil Holbrook, a teacher from Garibaldi College, said: “Our students have really bought into the Junior Enterprise scheme - they started last year and are even going to car boot sales on the weekends to sell their products. It’s boosted their confidence and they are learning valuable skills.”

Berni Dickinson, Director of the Mansfield Learning Partnership which organised the event, said: “The Mansfield Learning Partnership is all about giving opportunities to local young people in the local community and this is the perfect way to achieve our aspiration. It’s great to see young people learning and having a fantastic time.”
