Two-year ASBO for man covers Mansfield, Rainworth and Blidworth

A 34-YEAR-OLD man has been banned from parts of Mansfield, Rainworth and Blidworth after being hit with an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO).

James Durkin, of no fixed abode, was slapped with the two-year ASBO following convictions on two charges of shoplifting and one of harassment.

He has been described as a ‘prolific’ nuisance and must not enter specific exclusion zones.

In Mansfield, the exclusion zone includes all or parts of Union Street, Walkden Street, Quaker Way, Stockwell Gate, West Gate, Church Street and St John Street, as well as the whole of the Four Seasons Shopping Centre.

He is excluded from the Kirklington Road/Southwell Road East/Warsop Lane junction shops and businesses in Rainworth and the shopping parade along Mansfield Road through Blidworth.

The ASBO follows work by Sgt Brendon Hunt and Mansfield, Rainworth and Blidworth Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams, working in partnership with officers from Newark & Sherwood District Council.

Sgt Hunt said: “Although this order was sought to protect members of the public from being subjected to anti-social behaviour, partners are also working very closely to put together a support package for Mr Durkin to try and combat his criminal and anti-social offending in the longer-term.”
