Tesco beer theft lands Ollerton man in court

THEFT of cases of beer from a Tesco store in Ollerton landed a man in court and a six-month community order.

Gary Robert Alan Gillon (23) of Forest Road, New Ollerton, had walked into the shop on 1st March with another man and loaded up four cases of Fosters lager, worth £64, into a trolley.

The pair then bypassed the checkout and tried to leave the shop, but were spotted and detained.

The other man was dealt with via a caution, but Gillon was brought before Mansfield Magistrates’ because he was already serving a community order for criminal damage and threatening behaviour.

Magistrates said he an ‘appalling record’ and said he faced jail if he commited any further breaches.

He was also ordered to pay £145 in costs.
