Swanwick Scouts in Switzerland trip
A group of Scouts from Swanwick have just returned from an International camping trip to Switzerland, where they stayed in Kandersteg
They enjoyed a number of adventurous activities, including tobogganing, climbing and abseiling nearly 2000 meters above sea level - plus water activities in a glacial lake.
They hiked for several miles to Ballenberg where they were able to witness traditional Swiss life. They saw rope making, farming, blacksmithing and cheese making, where they were able to taste Swiss cheese.
They also visited the cities of Interlaken and Thun with views of the famous Eiger and Jung Frau mountains and saw street artists playing melodies on Alpine Horns.
The Scouts were supervised by their Swanwick Leaders and Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts, Colin Newton, who hopes to use his experiences to help other local Scout groups organise international trips.
