Swanwick NeighbourHood Plan drop-in sessions

Swanwick Parish Council is urging Swanwick residents and representatives from local businesses and organisations to attend a drop-in session to help progress a Neighbourhood Plan for Swanwick.

This is the second phase of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan following a well attended workshop last June.

The drop-in sessions are being held at the Old School House, Swanwick on Wednesday 7th November between 3 and 4.30pm and between 6.30 and 8pm.

The Localism Act was enacted in November 2011 allowing communities to prepare their own planning policy documents known as ‘Neighbourhood Plans’. To do this a ‘Neighbourhood Forum’ has to be established with a broad cross section of the community represented on it. Swanwick’s Neighbourhood Plan will set out the vision for the area together with planning policies for the development and use of land.

The role of the Neighbourhood Forum is to draft the Neighbourhood Plan ready for consultation, where ultimately it has to be approved by a local referendum. If prepared in accordance with the statutory processes and procedures it will become part of the statutory development plan for Amber Valley, and be a primary factor in the assessment of all future planning applications.

The Drop In Session will be conducted by Planning consultant Helen Metcalfe who is assisting Swanwcik Parish Council with the production of a Neighbourhood Plan.
