Sutton writer Hilary Constable to sign copies of her first children’s book

A BUDDING author will be signing copies of her first children’s book at Sutton’s Rumbles Cafe on Saturday.

Hilary Constable, who lives on Phoenix Street, Sutton, has penned The Phoenix Trilogy, which tells the tale of donkey Arthur and his life around the countryside farm where he lives.

The easy-to-read children’s book is aimed at youngsters who are learning to read on their own and for grandparents and parents looking to read to their young child.

“The Phoenix Trilogy is a gentle story for children and is suitable for them to read on their own in small stages such as reading one chapter a day or by adults reading to them,” said Hilary.

“I used to live by the seaside in Kent so I have always been fond of Donkeys.

“We also used to ride them on the beach in Scarborough so there has always been a connection for me.

“I hope that this book will be followed by another one in the future. It may be a slightly different style, but it will still be aimed at children who want to read.”

The book retails at £3, with £1 of every book sold being donated to Rumbles - a charity which Hilary is keen to support.

Said Hilary: “I used to work in Social Services so I am aware of the kind of support that vulnerable people as well as their parents and carers need.

“Rumbles do a great job in providing care to people in a safe environment as well as teaching vulnerable new skills so I am a big supporter of what they do.”

The book signing takes place from 5.30pm and also involves a Hallowe’en ghost walk and other ‘spooky’ goings on.
