Sutton teenager ‘messed up’ by drugs
AN ASHFIELD teenager who smashed a window after being refused entry to his grandad’s home told a court his head was “messed up” by drugs.
Myron Scott (18) was turned away by because of previous problems he had caused at the address in Alfreton.
Scott, who used to live with his grandfather, visited his home on 29th August and left after banging on the door and shouting through the letter box.
He returned two days later and was again refused entry, Helen Griffiths, prosecuting, told magistrates at Chesterfield.
Scott then smashed a hole in his grandad’s double-glazed kitchen window.
“The complainant feels at the end of his tether with his grandson. He says his grandson often called round asking for food and money and he had given him a lot of help and last chances in the past.
“The defendant said he wanted to use his grandfather’s shower. He wasn’t allowed in and he punched the window in rage. He said he felt sorry afterwards,” added Mrs Griffiths.
Scott, of Nesbitt Street, Sutton, admitted damaging property. He had previous convictions for damage and theft from a dwelling.
The bench said he had caused “ongoing distress” for his grandad and ordered him to do 80 hours unpaid work. He must also pay £250 compensation for the broken window.
Scott told the court he had taken steroids and experimented with different types of drugs, adding: “It messed my head up and I was taking it out on everyone and everything.
“This morning I have had a little boy born. I’m still all over the place.”
He said he was working with the probation service following the theft offence and wanted to get a job.
