SUTTON Rotary Club is looking for somewhere new to store its charity Christmas sleigh and is appealing for help from members of the public.

Rotarians take the sleigh around the streets of Sutton every Christmas, collecting money for charity.

But its usual home, a warehouse in Shirebrook, is being closed down, so they need to find it somewhere new - and are asking if anybody in the area has anywhere suitable.

Rotn Phil Bustin, the club’s press officer, said: “We are desperate to find a home for it.

“It needs to be under cover as it is a brand new sleigh that needs to be looked after. We want to keep it in pristine condition as they are not cheap.”

The sleigh is only used for about four weeks of the year during the run-up to Christmas, so is in storage for the rest of the time.

The sleigh is about the size of an average family car so a normal garage or something larger would do the trick.

Mr Bustin said that the sleigh is vital to the Rotary Club because it helps it to raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

“It’s very important to us. It’s one of our biggest fundraisers and we cannot afford to have it standing outside all year,” he said.

Anyone who may be able to give the sleigh a permanent or temporary home should call Phil on Mansfield 557134.
