A SUTTON bus driver has been shortlisted for a prestigious national title.

A former winner of trent barton’s Outstanding Achievement Award, Allan Gilmour has now been named as a contender for Top National Bus Driver at the UK Bus Awards.

The 34-year-old is well known to people travelling on the calverton connection and is friends with hundreds of them on his own personal Facebook page.

Alex Hornby, commercial director at trent barton, said: “Allan really does deserve to be recognised at the awards, he always has a smile and a cheery word for his customers.

“He’s also calm under pressure and earlier this year he won our Outstanding Achievement Award for trying to save a customer who collapsed while travelling on his bus.”

A regular face on trent barton’s marketing material, Allan also acts as a mentor to new recruits.

“He relishes setting an example for others to follow and he’s a worthy representative of our business and the wider industry,” Alex added.

The winners of the UK Bus Awards will be announced during a special lunch at the London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane on 20th November.

On reaching the final, Allan said: “I’m delighted to have made it this far in the competition and flattered the company has put my name forward.”
