Sponsor of 10k race has close links to charity

The main sponsor for this year's Mansfield 10k is McDonald's franchisee, Jacqui Moore.

The event raises funds for Reach Learning Disability. Jacqui’s son Calum, 24, has attended Reach for the last four years, since he was 19.

Calum has a condition called Fragile X syndrome which results in a spectrum of intellectual disabilities and behavioural characteristics. He currently lives with four other adults with learning difficulties where they receive 24 hour care.

Jacqui said: “Calum is very able in lots of ways, but in many ways he needs support. He absolutely adores going to Reach, especially the singing and art classes. Everyone needs friends in their lives, and adults with learning difficulties included, and Reach gives them just that.

“Calum gets beside himself with excitement and the sessions give him a reason to get up in the morning.”

The event is becoming something of a family affair for the Moore family, with Jacqui’s 19-year-old daughter Daisy taking part to support Reach. Staff from Jacqui’s McDonalds stores will also join in the 10k run alongside hundreds of others.

McDonald’s always aim to get involved in local community causes and have been involved in the Clean for the Queen and the International Mansfield Clean Up Day. This year the Mansfield 10k has received heavy backing from the company through Jacqui’s very personal link to the charity involved.

The Mansfield 10k takes place on Sunday August 21, and there are a limited number of places left for this year’s event. Enter at mansfield10k.co.uk
