Severe traffic on M1 is easing after jackknifed trailer

Severe traffic on the M1 is now starting to ease after an incident with a jackknifed trailer this morning (April 26).

Motorists were warned of the delays after a car towing a trailer ‘overturned’ on the Southbound carriageway at J27 for Hucknall at about 6.30am.

Two lanes were closed on the Southbound carriageway at J28 for Alfreton.

Drivers are being warned that heavy congestion is building on the motorway and the roads surrounding it - including the A38 westbound for J28.

A police spokesman said there were no serious injuries and the incident was left in the hands of Highways England.

All lanes are now re-open.
