Row in Bolsover garden led to arrest
A row in a Bolsover garden led to a man being arrested for contacting his ex-partner.
Police responded to a call about a disturbance at 8.15pm on 18th September but got no response at the address in Cundy Road.
The back door was unlocked and they looked inside the property but it appeared to be empty.
Police received another call at 9pm to say the pair had returned and they went back to the house and spoke to a woman, who appeared upset.
“She said her ex-partner had been there and they had argued and she believed he was still around somewhere.
“They carried out a search and a back cupboard offered some resistance when the door was pulled and the defendant was found inside it.
“He was arrested and he said: ‘She asks me to come up all the time’,” Jenny Fitzgerald, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.
A non-molestation order had been imposed on Stephen Wright at Chesterfield County Court on 24th August.
“He said he was aware of the order but he saw her around 28th August and he had been with her on and off from that point, at his address or at her address.
“He said they wanted the order to be removed,” added Mrs Fitzgerald.
Wright (28), of Gorse Valley Road, Hasland, admitted breaching a non-molestation order and was given a six-month conditional discharge, with £85 costs.
The justices told him that, until the order was lifted, he had to abide by it whether he liked it or not and regardless of whether that caused a problem for Ms Horton.
“He freely admitted the breach. She had been inviting him to the address,” said Bob Sowter, for Wright.
