Residents urged to have their say of the future of Ashfield

RESIDENTS and business owners in Ashfield have just over one week to have their say on major plans which will shape the future of the district for generations to come.

Bosses at Ashfield District Council say that over the coming decade there will be a huge surge in the population and 7,094 new homes will need to be built to accommodate this.

On top of this, new jobs, schools, roads and other services will need to be provided, while open green spaces and nature reserves are set to be given protection.

The authority launched a consultation into the far-reaching plans on 26th September - and people now have until 5pm on 9th November to make their voices heard.

The proposals put forward by the council are based on projections that by 2023 Ashfield will have a much stronger economy and that the district should continue to be regenerated through development of decent homes, improvement of schools and the creation of high quality jobs. In addition there would be a continued investment in Sutton, Kirkby and Hucknall town centres.
