STAFF, residents and relatives from a Mansfield care home have dismissed suggestions it is failing to provide the best possible care.
We reported in Chad last week how 21 out of 85 homes in the area were failing to meet the five basic standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Newgate Lodge, in Newgate Lane, was told to improve in two of the five areas in its latest CQC inspection.
But relatives of residents flocked to Chad offices to sing the praises of the ‘immaculate’ care home.
The CQC inspection said the two areas which needed improving were monitoring of care plan documentation and risk assessments needed to consistently cover all aspects of people’s needs.
They have now been addressed.
The rest of the report is highly complementary about residents’ care and treatment.
Chad visited the home and witnessed impeccable standards of hygiene, state-of-the-art equipment and personalised care to each resident.
Manager Jan Briddon said: “The report is there for everyone to see. It praises the home for its care and says the residents are very happy.
“The staff are excellent, they are very dedicated and take a lot of pride in their work. I am proud to be the manager of a home like this.
“Everyone always comments on how nice it is.”
Newgate Lodge has 55 full time residents and over 50 members off full and part time staff.
Residents who have more severe dementia live on a separate floor to others.
All food at the home is freshly prepared onsite.
The home has a number of activity and communal areas and a secluded private garden.
Another relative who visited Chad offices said: “It’s immaculate. I couldn’t wish for a better standard of care. Staff go above and beyond the call of duty.”
