A 78-YEAR-OLD customer was left shaken after being robbed of her purse at a Post Office in Underwood.

The incident happened just after 9am today (Wednesday) when a man walked into Underwood Post Office, on Main Road, and threatened the woman.

In the scuffle, he threw her to the ground and fled with her purse. She received minor hip injuries in the fall.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The man is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of a slim build and with receding dark brown hair. He was wearing a woollen hat and a hip-length light cream/green anorak.

The stolen purse, which contained a quantity of cash, has a green check pattern, with a bright green zip.

Forensic examination was carried out at the scene and officers are making enquiries in the area.

Anyone who saw the man in the vicinity around the time of the robbery, has seen a purse matching the above description, or has any information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
