Political group plan a demonstration in Kirkby

MEMBERS of Mansfield Socialist Party are expected to descend on Kirkby this Saturday to protest against planned changes to Ashfield Health Village.

NHS Nottinghamshire County officials are currently consulting on a number of changes at the facility, including increasing the number of day clinics while moving in-patient beds to specialist centres such as King’s Mill. People opposing the plans see it as a cut to services, but health bosses say they are designed to meet the changing needs of people.

The protest march is set to start at the Harold Larwood statue at 11am before moving to the town’s Summit Centre.

The consultation ends on Sunday. To have your say visit www.nottspct.nhs.uk.
