Police step up their patrols at Mansfield school after ‘suspicious incident’

POLICE are stepping up inquiries into a ‘suspicious incident’ in which a man was spotted hanging around Asquith Primary School in Mansfield.

Officers will increase patrols of the area following the incident on Wednesday, 11th October at around 8am, although the man did not approach any pupils.

Police school liaison officers are now working in the area to offer advice on security and safety.

An incident reported the day before in which a man grabbed a toddler by the hand on nearby Gordon Avenue has been described by police as a “misunderstanding” and say it was not the same man spotted on the Wednesday.
