Ray was 57 when he died at King’s Mill Hospital on February 1 this year. Floral tributes were left outside the centre in the spot where he performed and sang for 30 years.

His local fans stood in silent tribute as a mark of respect when his funeral cortege passed his favoured performance area outside Four Seasons.

Four seasons manager Rebekah O’Neill said: “Ray was a permanent fixture at the centre, bringing a smile to thousands of our shoppers for more than 30 years with his guitar playing and singing.

“Following his death earlier this year, we wanted to do something to remember Ray and the way he entertained the people of Mansfield for so many years.

“We spoke with his partner Julie and she was happy for us to install a plaque on the wall where he performed so often and for so long,

“Now there is a permanent reminder of the man who spent more than half his life entertaining us all. We’re all really pleased that we have been able to install this plaque as a way of honouring and remembering the many hours of joy and entertainment he provided to the town.”
