A petrol station in Forest Town could soon be flattened to make way for flats, plans have revealed.

The filling station on Clipstone Road West, opposite the junction with New Mill Lane, has been earmarked for demolition and could modern apartments built on the site.

The plans, submitted by Jack Loggin Ltd, could see up to 19 two-bedroom apartments built in a four-storey building.

Clipstone parish councillor, Dave Thompson, said it was the nearest filling station to his village, but said most motorists tend to buy fuel from ASDA in Forest Town.

He said: “Supermarkets have killed local petrol stations, but the biggest loss would be the convenience store it has, there will be nothing at all in that area if it goes.”
