Plans for £13m visitor attraction at Sherwood Forest revealed

A LONG-AWAITED plan to build a ‘world class’ tourist attraction in the heart of Sherwood Forest based on the legend of Robin Hood has been announced today.

Nottinghamshire County Council has announced that the long-awaited ‘Discover Robin Hood’ transformation will include a new visitor centre, open air theatre and adventure playground.

The £13m investment plan will also include a 4D cinema and ‘Main Show’ interactive area which includes a battle arena, King John’s Castle and medieval village.

It will also provide jobs to around 100 people as well as providing a major boost to the local economy say Notttinghamshire County Council.

The Discover Robin Hood proposal promises:

• A world-class visitor attraction to promote the legend, life and times of Robin Hood and his band of merry men

• Interactive, futuristic tourist features amid the settings of a medieval castle complete with fortified ramparts made from local materials

• Free access to a courtyard offering a taster of medieval activities and a gateway to Sherwood Forest which retains its free public access

• Comprehensive plans to promote the natural habitats and natural history of Sherwood Forest – led by the existing county council ranger team.
